A heartfelt response to the needs of vulnerable families and to the God who calls through them.

Initially felt within us, this call links us with many others as a family – the Lasallian Family.

Historically limited to De La Salle Christian Brothers, but since Vatican II, members include women and men of all ages, customs, and religions in a diverse expression of one call. Each vocational response, is woven into a seamless garment of association for the Lasallian mission characterized by human development and education. Meeting human needs is our Gospel call.

We journey as a family in pilgrimage. Ours is not an acquired status. It is a movement. All share the charism together; that is, the push from the Spirit of God for service of people. Some live intentionally with other Lasallians in community while most are part of non residential communities. Some are young. Some are old. Some are married others are single. Some are committed for now, some forever. All realize that change is a constant on this journey and a sign of God alive with us. We welcome God’s Dream for us as it develops within each of us and in our family around the world. We respect divinity in ourselves and in all people as we champion issues such as ecological sustainability, immigration, social justice, fair distribution of wealth, non-violence, and women’s rights.

With heartfelt reflection and years of experience we grow into the understanding that our call is first and foremost from the God who loves us unreservedly. It is a call to discipleship. We are in love with God and driven to bring about the reign of God in our world. Our vocation is a Divine calling for the good of an ever expanding world community.
